There was a 2-issue story "WHEN BONGOS COLLIDE" where an explosion at the nuclear power plant irradiated just about everybody in town, giving them super-powers -and costumes even ! Bart alone was normal, because he had been grounded (for something he didn't do !) and could not go to the festivities at said power plant. Now he must find a way to restore everybody to normal.
Homer = Inedible Bulk
Marge = The Entangler
Lisa = can focus her light powers through her saxophone
Maggie = telekinesis .
Abraham Simpson - leader of OldBlood.
The Van Hooten kid = super-intellect

This reminds me of a 2-parter titled "When Bongoes collide" where the entire population of Springville is gamma-irradiated in the explosion of the power plant -except Bart, who was grounded and had to stay at home for something he did NOT do. And Mr.Burns and Mr.Smithers who evacuated in time and left the people to their fate.

The gamma blast gave everybody super-powers and nifty costumes as well. Now Bart had to try and undo all the damage and chaos as the people who had all sorts of super-powers were running wild !
